Jain and Hindu Organ Donation Steering Group is delighted to welcome Northern Ireland’s move towards an opt-out system for organ donation.
Following consultation in 2020 to move towards introducing an opt-out system for organ donation in Northern Ireland. It welcomed the news to proceed, and the legislation will now advance through the Northern Ireland Assembly.
Only 49% have joined the NHS Organ Donor Register. Last year 11 people died waiting for an organ and therefore this legislation is critical for Northern Ireland.
