Case Studies

By becoming an organ donor you could help up to nine people in real need.

It’s important to understand the choices you have and why having a conversation with close members of your family and friends about your decision can help.

We are delighted that we have a number of Jain and Hindu personal stories from donor families, patients waiting for an organ transplant and transplant recipients. We will continue to include more stories, and if you know of anyone who may be interested in sharing their story, please contact us at info@jhod.org.uk

My story: Heart Transplant gave me a new lease of life – Sandeep Shah

I became...

When I was born, doctors told my parents that my life expectancy would be just 11–12 years. Thanks to advances in medical care, I am here today at 44. Growing up with CF Living with CF was like having a...

In November 2014 we were told that we need to start preparing ourselves for dialysis or a...

In 2010 I was diagnosed with IgA nephropathy, also known as Berger's disease, a kidney disease that occurs when an antibody called immunoglobulin A (IgA) builds up in your kidneys. Eventually, my kidneys were not able to filter waste from my blood. I was monitored for over two years, and the hospital advised me to start asking family and friends if they wanted to donate a kidney...
